During the end of April we didn't do a lot as we were still in Esperance and it rained and rained with winds to match. I had new tyres fitted and a service on my car at the beginning of May which killed the bank balance a little, but I had planned for it, so all is good. We ordered some more baby formula to be delivered and as it didn't arrive by the Friday, we had to stay until it arrived, which was Monday, so we left Esperance on Tuesday.
Esperance is a nice town with some beautiful beaches that would be ideal in the hot weather so maybe we will visit there again one day in the future.
We decided not to head further South, but instead headed back up to Kalgoorlie where I sit doing this. Funny old town with plenty of money around and great history. I didn't realise the town was so big....and talk about pubs !!!! Hundreds of them :) We went up and had a look at the SUPERPIT....WOW is all we can say...what a big bloody hole :) (If you click on the word SUPERPIT, you should be able to see a photo of it I took and when you zoom in, you can see the dump trucks which will give you an indication of the size of the pit)
It rained pretty heavy again the other night, but the weather has improved now with sun all day. Hopefully will get a game of golf in on Saturday as the Course here looks fabulous !!
Went into town the other day for a look around and when I went to put some stuff in the car, one of the 'cousins' said to Steph that the two girls were cute, how about a dollar. Wish I heard it !! Plenty of cousins sitting around the streets doing nothing as usual. I just wish they'd pull their fingers out of their arse and do something with their lives instead of blaming us for everything and getting everything for nothing...they really could do so much for themselves...it's a pity and sad. Saw another female 'cousin' walking along the main street with a Kangaroo tail...WTF ! Take away food I suppose
Keira and Zoe have made a bunch of new friends in the van park again and love everyone...it's nice. Keira had a face plant this morning and took some skin off her nose which you will see in the May photos.
I went and played golf on Sunday and the Kalgoorlie course was magnificient, but my game is still a little off. Maybe it was because I walked and all up it is about 12km....knackered at the end. Still, all in all, it was a good day. After golf I took Steph and the kids to the Palace Hotel Balcony restaurant for Mothers Day dinner...bloody best food we've had for awhile. Mixed dozen oysters came with 3 Shooters...yummo. Expensive all up, but I would go back there tomorrow if possible
Some friends we made, Ross and Merlene, were great and the girls loved them, especially Keira as she cried when they left. We hope to catch up with them up the track a bit as they are also heading north. Another couple who parked next to us ended upcoming from Kew, 25 km from where we live...go figure. Headed off on Tuesday and travelled down through Coolgardie which I remember as a thriving town when I drove trucks 30 years ago, but not now...still there, but another town everyone stays in doors and it is like those movies where the inhabitants are all dead....continued on and stayed in a camp site at Burracoppin. There were a few houses there and an old pub which was closed, but for sale and Steph wanted to buy it. No TV there so it was an early quiet night for us.
Next day travelled to the Wave Rock near Hyden...took some photos of the girls on the rock, had lunch and moved on to camp the night at a place called Kulin, where the Tin Horse highway is...photos added. They allow 48 hour stops for RV's and it was lovely and quiet once again. Only stayed one night and then travelled on to Busselton. Hooked everything up and then found out that something wasn't right as my batteries had not been charging. Still had lights etc and TV ran off normal power. Removed my battery charger in the morning and took it off to an Auto Electrician who tested it for me and it was cactus. It was about 7 years old so not too bad, but had to pay nearly $500 for a new u-beaut one and it works a treat
On the way here, one of my gadgets started beeping and I thought it was the tyre sensors...Steph looked in her mirror and yelled that there was a fire !!! I nearly had a heart attack and when I looked, I saw nothing. Turns out she had the map on her lap and it shone onto the window/mirror and made it looked smokey....girls :)
It rained on and off at Busselton, but on the whole, it was a nice stay. Ross and Merlene (that we met in Kalgoorlie) showed up and the girls remembered her. We had a nice dinner at Albies Pub and a nice morning tea at the Goose Cafe overlooking the Pier. We did walk out the pier and the girls slept all the way...another thing they missed out on. It is the longest piered bridge in the Southern Hemisphere....about 1.2km I think.
Moved on to Perth and stayed at the Karrinyup Waters Resort. Nice place, except for the bloody rain...again ! Played golf on Monday at Joondalup....best Course I have played on. My game improved, but I still didn't score to well, but a great day. Got home and found all my beer had frozen in my Waeco car fridge....some Thermostat has karked it...more money and it is currently in the shop being repaired. I put a claim in to my insurance for a whole I accidentally put in my awning and they are replacing it for me, but trouble is, there are none of the size I need in stock in Perth, so have to wait another week for it to be shipped here....should be heading north now, but will have to wait. Oh well, chill for a little while won't hurt.
Took the girls along to the Perth Zoo today so they could see some real animals. They seemed to like it, especially when the Lion roared
Had another game of golf at Hillview and although I am hitting them better, I am hopeless around the green and it is killing my game.
Caught up with a great work mate from back in our Liverpool Police days, Nikki and her gorgeous daughter, Charlotte. Nikki moved back over to Perth some years back and joined the WA Firies and still working there. We caught up at a great place for brekkie at Swanbourne, The Naked Fig and then went to the playground with the girls. They all got on the slippery dip and stuff and had a great play date...Thanks...and great catching up with you Nikki.
More people we met in the van park in Perth was a bloke who made the girls some of those balloon animals and it turned out that he had been the longest serving Ronald McDonald and was even awarded with a trip to the States. Some other people were from Muswellbrook and turned out they knew Steph's dad very well. Small world !
Thats about it for May, so June will be up and running after we leave Perth on 5 June.
